Ujet Logistics Guideline Requirements for Packaging

This document defines the minimum packaging requirements for all suppliers and subcontrators of Ujet Manufacturing.

The objective of the packaging guideline is to protect all the goods from the various loads (e.g. pressure, shock, fall, vibration or temperature influences) in the course of the logistics chain.

a. Container and packaging concept

The packaging provided by your company should protect the goods from any kind of transport and handling by forwarders.

Ujet Vehicles is certified in accordance with TS16949, VD6.1 and ISO14001.
Packaging should always be planned with economical and ecological factors in mind. After selecting the packaging, a sample is provided including the goods to be transported.

Reusable packaging is arranged, generally in accordance with the described requirements assessment.Mixing batches in a packaging unit is not allowed.
All packaging concept must be submitted to PPAP and signed by UJET.

b. Sizes

  • All small parts sent as parcel shipments must be packed in resilient outer packaging. This must have a handy size and not exceed max. 20kg in weight.
  • If the ordered quantity of units requires larger packaging, the shipments should be divided into several parcels or the parcel should be delivered on a pallet.
  • The maximum package dimensions or the pallet cannot exceed the basic area of a Euro-pallet(80*120cm) and a height of 125cm. If supplier wants to use a 100x120cm or 110x120cm the supplier must warn Ujet so we can study the impact on the storage. Feet of pallet are parallel to long side.
  • If pallets are custom made, you company should pay attention to the dimensions as well as the way feet of pallet are made (lengthwise).

e. Specific Packing Instruction for Painted Parts

As painted parts we define parts with any type of decoration coating.
To prevent surface damages painted parts may not contact each other or any other hard objects. For that the most significant requirement for the packaging of painted parts is to ensure the surface protection.
Further significant requirements concerning the packaging of painted parts are:
- Parts may only be packed in “dry to handle” state
- Parts and internal packages need to be protected against moisture (if necessary, parts need to be covered)

For smaller to midsize painted parts it is recommended to transport by specially designed foams form.

Bigger parts should be packed into racks or foam pallets with adequate dividers. The usage of corrugated cardboard for separation is recommended. Due to the risk of damages on the painted surface, the usage of plastic dividers is not recommended. The usage of plastic separators is only possible in agreement with Ujet.

The way of packing, storing and transporting painted parts should avoid any rust, abrasions, nicks, scratches, dents of the painted surface. Surface protection should be provided to any part which requires additional protection and is clearly stated in Purchase Order by using an approved protective material.

f. Specific Packing Instruction for electronic parts

All electronic ESD-sensitive components must always be inside a closed ESD bags Anti-static bag must have an ESD reference.

g. Specific Packing Instruction for Metallic parts

All parts in metal which are sensible to corrosion must be protected with Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (V.C.I) bag. All parts must be individually packed in a sealed V.C.I bag.
To prevent from humidity, a silica gel bag must be included in each V.C.I bag.
